Overview
Disc centrifuge is a type of vertical centrifuge, with the drum mounted on the upper end of a vertical shaft, driven by a motor through a transmission device for high-speed rotation. Inside the drum, there is a set of disc-shaped components stacked together—the discs, which serve to shorten the settling distance of solid particles (or droplets) and expand the settling area of the drum.
Working Principle
The motor drives the drum to rotate at high speed around the main axis through a friction clutch (or hydraulic coupling) and a spiral gear pair (or belt). The feed liquid flows from the upper central feed pipe to the bottom of the drum, tending towards the wall space of the drum through the lower edge of the disc seat (or the downstream flow holes). Under the action of the centrifugal force field, the light liquid, which is to be discharged manually after stopping (or discharged by nozzles, or automatically discharged through the slag outlet under the control of the sliding drum), flows along the outer conical surface of the disc towards the axis to the upper light liquid centrifugal pump, from which it is discharged.
The heavy liquid tends to flow towards the drum wall along the inner conical surface of the disc, and then flows upward through the heavy liquid centrifugal pump to be discharged from the heavy liquid outlet, thus completing the separation of heavy and light liquids (solid-liquid separation does not distinguish between light and heavy liquids), juice clarification; beer separation; separation of fermentation liquids; clarification of extraction liquids; separation of microbial bodies in the biological industry; separation of various algae, etc.
Main Applications
Widely used in pharmaceutical, petroleum, chemical, food, and environmental protection industries. The DHY/DRY type is used for liquid-liquid-solid separation of emulsions, such as milk de-fatting, degumming and soap removal of vegetable oils, regeneration of lubricating oil or hydraulic oil, oil-water separation of animal oils, production processes of sea buckthorn oil and coconut oil, recycling of cutting fluids, etc.
The DHC type is mainly suitable for liquid-solid separation with solid content between 1-15% and solid particle diameter greater than 0.5 microns. For example, clarification of dairy products (net milk machine)
